Words moving in a flock, where the attraction between them is semantic rather than spatial.

A flocking algorithm normally makes each element follow or repel its neighbours in space. Here the distance that governs the movement is a distance between meanings: words drift toward those whose sense lies near their own, and the colour follows the same measure. The meanings are measured against the same corpus as Stream of Consciousness, sixty-seven million anonymous accounts of what happened to people. Groups form that nobody arranged, and hold for as long as the sense holds them. The text is the input here, not the material.
