Waves that cross do not add up to a bigger wave: they leave a pattern that is in neither of them, and that vanishes when they separate. The five pieces follow the three stages the title names. Interference, where two systems occupy the same space. Emergence, where a form appears at a scale above both and is contained in neither. Connection, what remains once the meeting is over. Each of the five is a separate program written from nothing, which is why each is a single work and not an edition drawn from one.
